About Me

This blog was formerly known as Mrs. Marine & the Tiny Troops

Trisha a.k.a Mom, Mommy, Hey-Mom

I'm a single mom, writer, blogger, wine lover...

Formerly known as Mrs. Marine, I was married to a Marine for 13 years; 4 duty stations (California, Virginia, Hawaii, then back to CA), 8 deployments, countless other absences for training and two children together, until one day he left out of the blue...

The experience has made me who I am today. I used to say I was a married single parent (because he was gone so much), now I am officially a single mother. It is nothing I had not already been doing, I have primarily raised my two children on my own anyway.

I have two beautiful children! Both May babies and oddly enough their birthdays are exactly 4 years and 2 days apart (at least its not the same exact day). She was 3 days late and he was 2 1/2 weeks early.

Sissy - born in 2003
A major social butterfly, she will talk your ear off if you let her (not that you can stop her). She is too smart for her own good. She loves arts and crafts!

Booboo - born in 2007
A typical boy through and through and smart as a button. Already had stitches when he was 20 months old. He loves Legos and making paper airplanes!

Both of my children have Asperger's, my son was diagnosed in December 2010 and my daughter in March 2012. I don't want to "label" my children. Their individuals, there both unique, their NOT a diagnosis, a disorder, a syndrome or a label. But here, on the web, among the vast number of other bloggers, I feel its the best way to find and connect with other parents who have similar children. I need to find other parents for advice and support, so I know I'm not alone. I'm still learning about my children, about Asperger Syndrome and I think Ill continue to do that for a long time...
