PCS - Hawaii to Southern California

I't has been so long I hardley know where to begin. At the begining of January we sad aloha to the beautiful Island of Oahu and hello to Southern California. It was sad and exciting at the same time. I absolutely loved living in Hawaii, we lived there for 4 and a half years! Much longer than the norm for Military families which is typically 3 years. I was excited also to start our new journey in California. Thankfully the climate change was not too drastic but I am still cold most days. I was used to a consistent temperature in the 80's with high humidity and now it ranges from highs in the 60's - 70's, Hawaii made me a wimp.

We are settling in well, we were without our household goods for over a month, we slept on air mattresses and used loaner dishes but that is what you get when you move across the ocean. The kids are doing well in their new school and quickly making friends!

I still miss Hawaii and I think I always will. I will never forget the experiences and memories I made there! Best duty station EVER!!! However, best thing about being back on the mainland, getting to eat at certain chain restaurant's that were not in Hawaii, like Chipotle Mexican Grill, one of my favorites that I had to live without for 4 1/2 years!!!

  1. Hawaii to San Diego? LUCKY!!! Our first PCS as a family was from southern Georgia to New England ... in FEBRUARY! After that we moved from there to Washington state in November, i.e. the beginning of the "rainy" season. lol I think I'd like to trade duty station with you for a while! :)
