2 Years in Hawaii

On this day, 2 years ago, after a very long day of travel, we arrived on this beautiful Island. We were greeted with rain, so our drive from the airport to base wasn't very scenic.
I have only left the Island once to go "home" to Colorado for a brief weekend to go to a wedding. The kids haven't left at all and obviously Hubby has left quiet a few times. We will be here for about another year, maybe more, maybe less. I am hoping to visit one or two of the other islands before we leave.

I still love it here! I'm not getting "cabin fever" as some do. I love the weather, the amazing mountains and of course the beautiful ocean! I only wish it wasn't so expensive to fly here so family could come visit.
This is by far our best duty station yet! Third times the charm!

One of the best ideas I have ever had as a parent! For all of you who have kids who like to get up at the “But Crack of Dawn” (really early in the morning) try this:

A while back my daughter kept waking up at 5/6:00 in the morning and wanting to stay-up. NO!! If she gets up that early she will be a grouch by late afternoon because she has not taken a nap since she was 3. I would send her back to bed and she would come back out every 30 minutes wanting to know if it was time to get up yet.

Then I had my brilliant idea:

The Smurfs in 3D ~Advance Screening Preview~

I love the Smurfs!! I was so excited when I got the opportunity to see an advanced screening!! My daughter wanted to see it too! She has seen the old Smurfs cartoons, we catch them on TV every now and then! I love that there still on!

Who is your favorite Smurf? My favorite has always been Smurffette!

We all really enjoyed the movie! Being a long time fan it was great to see Gargamel portrayed by a real person! It was hilarious! The Smurfs is one of those movies that adults and kids will equally enjoy! It opens in theaters this Friday, July 29!

TROOPPAWS ~ Review / Giveaway!!

These dogs are absolutely adorable, with Hubby Deployed I was very excited to get a Trooppaws dog for my kiddos! I knew they would love it! I love how its legs all stick out wide, he's just asking for a big Hug and he's very cuddly too! Each Trooppaws has a pocket on its belly to hold a picture! As you can see I have not put a picture in ours yet. However my kids have already name there Trooppaws "Daddy Doggy"!

Marlene is the creator of Trooppaws, she started out sending home-made cookies to Troops through an organization called Treat the Troops. When she came across a uniform manufacturing factory, the idea for Trooppaws was born! The adorable stuffed dogs are made from Army, Air Force and Marine uniform fabric. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Win a Trooppaws dog for your very own!!

The first Military installation we moved to all the other wives I met were SNOBS. My husband had just finished training and had only been in for about 6 months. Every wife I came across I got one of two responses:
She snubbed me because her husband was a higher rank and she thought that made her better than me. OR

Missing Him... So Much

Deployments Suck...
Although luckily this one has so far been going fast! Summer break is already almost over, school starts on August 1st.
Toward the end of August will be the half way point! I'm not sure why, but I always feel better when we reach the half way mark in Deployments. I tell myself, I have made it this far, it's only downhill from here! Once the number of days he has been gone is larger than the number of days till he gets home, I feel better. Is that weird? Every deployment and separation I have looked forward to the half way mark.

It really is true, it's the little things you miss...

Scrolling Saturdays: Marine Wife Recruiters

Scrolling Saturdays w Mrs. Marine
If you have never hear of it before (it did not start here), Scrolling Saturday, is a day to dig through your Archives and find an old post to re-post again, because maybe it didn't get the exposure it deserves, or maybe it was just one your proud of and want to share it with your newer readers. Either way, it's up to you!

I have been wanting to do this for a while! So here it goes; I originally posted this in November 2007

This is funny - My sister and I came up with this.... This came about shortly after I arrived in 29 Palms, our first duty station. My sister and a few of her friends came to visit and attend the Marine Corp Ball with us and all of my husbands single buddies wanted to be "hooked-up" with my friends. It's all in fun, nothing serious.

Marine Wife Recruiters
Objective: To successfully recruit and establish relationships between your husbands' fellow Marine's and your female friends and to promote healthy relationships between the two with the ultimate goal of marriage.

Care Package Tips/Ideas

The last 5 Deployments (this is #8) there was not a need for me to send any care packages to Hubby. Because anything he needed or wanted for the most part he was able to get himself a lot faster than a package would get there.
Well, that is not the case this Deployment. So I have been trying to get to the post office once a week to send a care package to him. Which takes at least a month if not longer to get to him... Due to the time it takes, I cant send anything homemade, because it wouldn't be edible by the time it got there.

We are also lacking in communication this Deployment... I get on average one or two emails and one phone call a week. Hubby has a lap-top with him, but he can only get on the internet on the government computers, not on his laptop. Which means I cant send him any pictures or video via email because he cant download them.
So, I had the greatest idea!

USA State Postcard Swap... Disappointment

If you have been around my blog awhile you may remember we (My daughter and I) were participating in a 50 state postcard swap. Well, it is long over with and I am very disappointed to say that out of the 49 other families that were supposed to send us postcards, 19 of them completely flaked out... Which means our collection of postcards is incomplete.

This is how it was supposed to work, it began in May of 2010. Each week one State (family) was scheduled to send out cards from their state to the other 49 states. So we should have (in theory) received one a week for 50 weeks, excluding the week we sent out cards.

I totally understand that Family Life happens, so delays in some getting sent out are inevitable. But the swap ended in April, we are still lacking so many cards and the families that were supposed to send them have long ago stopped communicating with the swap participants...

I need your help!!! If any of you are able to send us a postcard from any of the following states (I don't care if you live there or not), I will gladly send you one back from Hawaii!

Big Brother Season 13

Anyone a fan? I am!! Big Brother is Awesome! I'm not typically into reality shows but I have been hooked on Big Brother from the beginning! I have seen almost all the seasons but have missed a few over the years. Season 8 being one of them. Which it just so happens to play a slight roll in Season 13...

If you are not familiar with the show:
Big Brother is a television show in which a group of people live together in a large house, isolated from the outside world but continuously watched by television cameras. Each series lasts for around three months, and there are usually fewer than 15 participants. The housemates try to win a cash prize by avoiding periodic evictions from the house.
When Hubby is home we watch it together, It sucks I dont have him here...

Help! Trying to Potty Train an Overactive Bladder?

I DON'T WANT TO CHANGE DIAPERS ANYMORE! I need my son to be potty trained...
Yes, my son is four and STILL not potty trained.
I have tried everything I can think of. Incentives, praise, bribery, he has Lightning McQueen and Thomas the Train underwear (his two favorite characters). I have tried keeping him in underwear. But, I only have so many pairs and its very frustrating when he pees in them every time without even attempting to us the toilet...

Booboo definitively has an overactive bladder. For example, yesterday I tried putting him in underwear AGAIN using the "special underwear" which I had originally bought for Sissy and am proud to say she no longer needs them anymore! The underwear have sensors in them which set off an alarm if they get even a little wet. That way I would know immediately if he peed.
I put the underwear on him around 2:00, he peed at:

Happy Independence Day!!

Our plans for the day:
Probably taking the kids to my friend "K"s house to play in a kiddie pool after lunch!
Definitely having dinner at "K"s house! Her husband is going to Grill burgers and hot dogs!
I have been craving a home-grilled cheeseburger! Hubby is the griller in my house, I do not use the grill, so I told "K"s husband I would bring the burgers if he would grill them!!

This evening were going to watch fireworks at the beach on base!!

I wish my husband was here...
This morning during breakfast, out of nowhere, Booboo says "I miss Daddy".
