GFC Widget Missing? Solution for Blogger Users!

I'm sorry, this only works on Blogger. If I find a solution for Wordpress I will update this post.

Create your own Button/Text link to Google Friend Connect for the annoying times when its down. Mine looks like this:
Follow Me
It's on my blog in my far right sidebar below my GFC widget.
I finally figured this out, I had tried in the past but I couldn't figure out what the link should be, now I know, and I'm sharing it with all of you!

If you use the Blogger Navbar scroll to the bottom for instructions, otherwise, start here.
First, find your Blog ID:

Go to your Blogger Dashboard and click Design link for your blog (any of the blue blog links will work but I'll pick one to keep it simple). Click the images to enlarge.
Look in the URL bar, Copy the string of numbers after: blogID=
Replace the words in in red below with your Blog ID number to create your URL

http://www.blogger.com/follow-blog.g?blogID=YOUR-BLOG-ID-HERE

Navbar instructions: If you use the Navbar, you already have another way for people to follow you when GFC is down. If you want to make a button link, click the Follow link on your blogs Navbar and copy the entire URL in the pop-up window.
Thanks to Chef in Training for her post that helped me figure this out. She has the Blogger Navbar and wrote a post on how you could still follow her through the Follow Link in the Navbar.

Next Step: Use the URL you just created in a text link or a button link, whatever you wish. See my Button link below, click it. Any questions, just ask!

  5. Wonderful!! Thanks! :-) Both my "follow button" and the little images with my follower have been gone for several weeks... Now at least people can follow me! (Still cannot see my followers though...) Thanks again! :-)
