Katy Perry on Sesame Street (video)

Have you seen this? I'm a fan of Katy Perry, I love the original version of this song. The video all in all is fun and cute, but who was in charge of her outfit? Granted, that's Katy's style, but its not quite appropriate for Sesame Street. Most kids probably wouldn't notice that you can see cleavage, but parents notice those things. From what I read, this clip was never actually on the show, but its all over YouTube. What do you think about it?

Never enough time

I can not seem to stay caught up with anything these days. Laundry, house cleaning, E-mails, Blogging... Last week was way busier than usual then I got sick on top of that which just drains me... I feel like I have been playing catchup for months now and still I'm not done. Obviously I have not had a lot of time for my blog lately. But my family and household stuff have to come first. One of these days Ill hopefully get caught up. Then Ill be back to a normal schedule, maybe...

9/11 Never Forget

What were you doing 9 years ago today?

I was on my way to work and heard the news on the radio. I didnt know what the Twin Towers or the World Trade Center was prior to that day.
I was working as a Nanny and my boss worked for the Federal Center in Denver, CO. He had been scheduled to fly out that morning (needless to say, his plans were canceled).
The only thing I remember hearing on the radio is that an airplane crashed into a building. I didnt find out the full extent of what was happening until I got to work and started watching the news. Then the tragedy slowly unfolded. Hubby (we were just dating then) was at home sleeping and I remember calling him and telling him to turn on the news. After that day, he decided to join the Military. A little over 3 months later, he left for Boot Camp.

When Do Boys Get Cooties?

What ever happened to little kids thinking the opposite sex was "icky" and had "cooties" and "I hate boys/girl"? Do kids not do that anymore? I would prefer my daughter to not like boys, except her brother of course.
Because right now, she likes boys. In fact, there have been problems at school with her and another boy talking about kissing each other (they think its funny)... Last year she got in trouble for chasing the boys on the playground saying she was going to kiss them... SHE IS ONLY 7, what am I gonna do with her... UGH!!
She tends to gravitate towards the boys in general and seems to choose to play with the boys over the girls. Which may be partially because she is somewhat socially immature. She is smart as can be, but compared to other little girls her age, she is not quite as mature as they are. Considering girls mature faster than boys, maybe that's why she likes to play with the boys...

Wordless Wednesday - What's wrong with this picture?

(I had to re-post this, it didn't get full credit the first time)
Just in case you were wondering, there is a miniature golf course right next door to the Samuel Adams Sports Grill, they share the same parking lot... I was driving by and saw the bus and my first thought was, did a bunch of Marines borrow the school bus? Then I saw all the kids playing put-put. I had to turn around so I could go back and take this picture, LOL.

Postcard Swap: Kansas 10 of 50

This has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks now.

Written on the back of the postcard:
"Kansas produces nearly 1/5 of all wheat grown in the US, enough to provide each person on earth with 5 loaves each year. Dodge City is the windiest city in the United States. Kansas was the first state to ratify the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which gave African-American men the right to vote. Wyatt Earp, James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok and William B. "Bat" Masterson were three of the legendary lawmen who kept peace in frontier towns like Abilene, Dodge City, Ellsworth, Hays, and Wichita."

My Day in Denver

Last weekend I went to Denver, CO, for the day, by myself... I left my house in Hawaii around 3:30 pm on Friday to go to the airport. I arrived in Denver Saturday morning, 13 hours later (17 if you include the 4 hour time difference)...
I went to a wedding and reception on Saturday. Didn't go to sleep until around 1am. Then got up about 7am, and had to be back at the airport around 9:30. I traveled another 13 hours back home (only 9 with the time loss, ha, I got home faster). I passed out when I got home. Needless to say, I was exhausted and it took me a few days to catch up. Monday night I fell assleep on the couch at 8pm.

I answered the same questions over and over during the reception:
"Wow, your the one from Hawaii! How do you like it there?"
"How long have you lived there?"
"When did you get to Denver" -insert comments about me just getting there that morning-
"How long are you staying" -insert gasp, and more comments about me leaving so soon-
Then I would explain:
Hubby couldn't take off work and we could only afford one ticket (nor would I have wanted to fly that far with two kids all by myself) so, I either went by myself for a quick weekend, or not at all...

It was Daddy's first time being alone with the kids for more than a few hours. I secretly wanted them to drive him crazy all weekend... Is that wrong? He said they were really good all weekend and didn't argue at all... Why does it seem like there always better for Dad than me? That's so unfair... They both missed me of course. But I think the one on one bonding time for all of them was good for them all!

I guess that's one of the downfalls to being in Hawaii. We are so far away from our family and the only possible travel is by plane (well, boat would just take way to long). A flight from here to the West coast alone is 6/7 hours. Not to mention, its expensive to fly.
But, I still love it here! I don't regret taking the opportunity to live here for 3 years! We wont be here forever, and as much as I love it here I think I will be ready to leave when the time comes. Regardless of where we end up, our next duty station will be somewhere in the Continental US and we will be closer to our family than we are now. This is the farthest we have ever been from our families. If you think about it, HI is the farthest we could possibly be form CO and still be in the US...
