Plant a Tree With Your Blog - GO GREEN!

I received an email today from the "Make it Green" team in Germany who has a project to reduce the carbon footprint of blogs.
Now, Ill be honest, I do not understand what a carbon footprint is. I know its impacting the environment. So, if there is something I can do to help and reduce mine then I am all for it!!
From E-Mail: --A blog with 15,000 visits a month has a yearly carbon dioxide emissions of 8lb. To neutralise these emissions we have created "My blog is carbon neutral" buttons bloggers can demonstrate that they care about the environment and the carbon footprint of their blogs.--
The "Make it Green" team are planting trees in cooperation with the Arbor Day Foundation in Plumas National Forest in Northern California. So, by me writing this blog post and putting the above button on my sidebar, they are going to plant a tree for my blog!! Awesome right!!

I challenge you to do your part in reducing your blogs carbon footprint! Click the link for instructions and to get your button, write a post and put a button on your blog so they can plant a tree for you! (Leave me a comment with a link to your post if you participate).

The grand total of all the orders was $359.55 As the Hostess I got to buy 3 half priced items and a $25.50 credit towards more products! Which totaled up to $70.50 worth of free products!! And as the consultant I make 25% off the entire order! Scentsy Rocks!

Aloha Friday #17 Washing the Car

Aloha Friday
What's Aloha Friday? It all started at An Island Life. In Hawaii, Friday is the day to relax and take it easy. So, I take it easy on posting! I ask a question and you answer it in a comment. Play along and write your own "Aloha Friday" post then leave your link with Mr. Linky and Ill be sure to stop by and answer your question!

Question of the day:
How often do you wash your car?

A: Here in Hawaii it seems pointless to wash our cars. Not only does it rain often, but the rain I think has salt water in it, which leave terrible water spots on the car. So, even when we do wash it, its "spotty" again in a day or two....

Busy Week

The past week was a little busy which is why I didn't get a chance to post anything...
Princess was on Spring Break last week. Hubby has been on pre-deployment leave since the 13th, he goes back to work tomorrow. My Mother-In-Law was here from the 16th through the 22nd (I know what your thinking, aaaahhhhhhhh, but it was a good thing, I get along great with her).
So, we took her to the beach and around the Island a little, she loved it and didn't want to leave. Princess of course LOVED having Grandma here! She is an attention hog. Bobo took a while to warm up to Grandma, but loved having her here as well.

Our 8 Year Anniversary!

Hubby and I have been married 8 years today!
I have been waiting for today to tell this story. A few months ago Hubby and I were out on a "date night". We had gone out to dinner and then went to a dance club. We were hanging out, dancing and such. I had gone to the bathroom and woman who had been standing near us asked Hubby if we were in Hawaii on our honeymoon? Hubby told her no, we lived here and have been married almost 8 years. She was shocked, she thought for sure by the way we were acting we were newlyweds.
We are still totally in love with each other after 8 years! We still flirt with each other and dance together! Date nights are important. To spend time together and remember why you got together in the first place, why you fell in love!

Summer & Winter

We went to the neighbors house and played outside in their kiddie pool and in the sprinklers. The kids got all wet while I sat in the sun! Its March and it feels like summer outside, its so weird. I love Hawaii!

I'm sorry if its cold where you live. It is kinda sad that my kids don't get the experience of playing in the snow and building snowmen like I did... (Probably will eventually) Once when I was little, it snowed so much (there was a blizzard) that we built an Igloo in our front yard! I think it lasted for about a week before it melted enough to cave in. We also built a slide out of snow! Cold weather can be fun too!

Do you have pets? If so what and how many? What are their names?

A: Check out Wordless Wednesday if you missed her picture! We just have one cat named Ginger! I have almost always had a cat. I love cats! I got my first cat when I was 6/7 I think. Her name was Muffin.

Deployment #7

How... How do I tell her again that Daddy's leaving? There's no way to explain it to Bobo so that he can understand. As every deployment looms closer I dread the same things. How can I not. I try to be positive and think of good things; I get to watch whatever I want on TV in the evenings, I can watch chick-flicks all I want. I wont have to suffer through wrestling on TV (Yes, hubby is a huge WWE fan). Umm, that's all I got. We save money while Hubby's deployed. Yeah, those thoughts are not helping me right now.
Its always the hardest having to tell the kids. Hubby hasn't actually deployed in a year. He's been gone for training purposes 3/4 different times but each one was only a month or so. I can handle a month in my sleep.
Its a 6 month deployment that's hard. I am at least thankful that his deployments are never any longer than 6/7 months.
This is his 7th deployment in 8 years. He has done more deployments than a lot of the guys who way outrank him. It was kinda funny at the Marine Corp Ball. Hubby has a ribbon on his blues that represents the number of deployments he has done, it has a silver star on it because he has deployed 6 times. Several "higher-ups" asked him how many deployments hes done, they were scrutinizing his ribbon thinking he had the wrong star on it...
He leaves in about 2 weeks. He has a 5 day flight window so we don't yet know the exact day. I hate that. He's on leave for most of the next two weeks which will be great! At least we get to spend extra time with him before he goes! Also, Princess is on spring break next week! Perfect timing!
Where hes going, its 5 hours behind my time, which is annoying, but we have dealt with worse. That's one of the hardest things is getting the time to talk with the time difference. And finding time when he can talk to the kids. Especially with Princess, she is usually in school all day and I cant let her stay up too late during the week because she has school. So usually she only gets to talk to Daddy on the weekends. We will have summer vacation during this deployment so that will help, but Daddy is still working all day long... Deployments Suck! Why did I marry a Marine? O-that's right, because I love him... The first few weeks are always the hardest...

Wordless Wednesday - Ginger

This is our new kitty Ginger! We adopted her from the Humane Society! She is 2 years old! I have wanted a orange cat ever since I was little! I recently learned it is less common for orange cats to be female! Ginger is very sweet and has adjusted well with our family!
She's a pretty kitty, I love her spots! She matches the rug, LOL!

I was given the opportunity to review this very fascinating and amazing book! One of my lucky readers will get a copy of their own!
It is one of those books you want to share with everyone you know! The type of book that you can either sit and read from beginning to end, or just flip through the pages and read random pages at a time. A book to learn from and be inspired by! "What I know" is a book filled with quotes and stories form the young and the old on topics regarding: Friendship, Parenting, Integrity, Perseverance, and so much more!
"What I Know" proves again how insightful and intelligent children really are, at such a young age, I think a lot of people take for granted how observant children can be. Also the knowledge and life experiences of a person who has lived a full and long life is truly something to behold.
I would like to share some of my favorite quotes from the book:

"Happiness and caring is the key to the door to your heart. When you have no key and no happiness, then your heart is just locked."
-Erica D. (10 yrs. old)

"When you have a big problem, it can feel like someone is sneaking up and scaring you. You might want to scream and run away at first, but that won't solve the problem. Turn and face it and believe in yourself."
 -Olivia P. (10 yrs. old)

How to win a copy of this wonderful book:
RULES: *Your email address must be in your comment or in your profile so I can contact you if you win. *Leave a separate comment for each task you complete.

As a Blogger I feel the need to be on them all and try and keep up with them all, Aaaahhhhhhhh!!!! I say this all after telling you that I just made a new page on Facebook, haha. I just added to my list of things to keep up with; log in post something new, log in update status, log in add friends, log in read read read.  LOL, I know, I'm crazy!!! Thank goodness there are ways to have usernames and passwords remembered right!? So I don't always have to type them in and keep them in my head!

Review - Norelco Kids Hair Clippers

Little boys hair is so easy compared to girls. Bobo needs a hair cut, I can just buzz it off! I dont have to make an appointment, go to a salon, hope they sit still so its straight, then pay money for it. All I need is a good set of clippers!
I was given the opportunity to do a review of the the Norelco Kids Hair Clippers.
As a bonus for my readers (you), go to Philips.com/store and enter KIDSCLIPPER into the promo code at the shopping cart and receive a special $5 off!
These clippers are great! There cordless which is wonderful, so much easier when I dont have to worry about hitting Bobo in the face with the cord. They plug in to charge the battery, which lasts forever (you can use them while there plugged in also)! It has 2 attachments for 15 length setting up to 42 mm in length! As you can "hear" from the video there super quiet! More so than any other trimmers Hubby has ever had! Which is a lot less intimidating for a child! These are really made for kids! Included with the clippers are scissors, a cape, a great little pouch to store it all in and a "How To" DVD!
video
Bobo getting a hair cut! (He didn't want to wear the cape). Princess of course had to come in to see what was going on and weather or not she was missing out on something.
The Norelco Kids Hair Clippers, priced at $39.99.

Dean from Supernatural - Too Funny

Do you watch Supernatural? Hubby and I are hooked on the show. This clip is blooper footage from an old episode. Its just too funny, I found it on YouTube and had to share it. Not to mention, Dean (Jensen Ackles) is Hot! (This video is not the best quality, but its the only one I could embed)

Twice Baked Ranch Potatoes

So Yummy! I was never a big fan of baked potatoes until I had them twice bakes! Had never even heard of such a thing until I had them at Hubby's Aunt & Uncles house (7 years ago). His Aunt made them and twice baked is so much better! This is a recipe I found several years.

Ingredients:
4 baking potatoes
1/2 cup Ranch Dressing
1/4 cup Sour Cream
1 tablespoon Oscar Mayer Real Bacon Bits
1/4 pound (4 ounces) Velveeta cheese, cut up into squares (we tried shredded cheddar once, and its not as good, wasn't creamy enough)

1. Wash the potatoes, poke holes in them all over with a fork and microwave them until soft (usually about 20 minutes, I flip them over half way through). Slice off tops of potatoes; scoop out centers, leaving 1/8-inch shell.
2. Mash potatoes. Add dressing, sour cream and bacon bits; mash until fluffy. Stir Velveeta into potato mixture. Spoon into shells, gently mashing to fill shells.
3. Place potatoes in casserole dish. Bake at 350 F for 20 Minutes. Do not cover.

I need a picture. I'll try to remember to take one next time I make them and add it to this post.

I've only read the first few chapters of Betrayed, please don't leave any comments that would spoil anything for me! Thanks!

Princess Lies

My daughter is 6, she will be 7 in May.
Last night, Hubby was working late. Princess and Bobo were eating dinner. Princess was taking forever to eat, as usual when its was food she didn't care for very much. Which is half of the dinners I make, she is very picky.
Bobo was done and I told her she had 5 more minutes and she needed to be done or there wasn't going to be time for a story after dinner. I set the timer on the Microwave and took Bobo upstairs to play. I had glanced in her bowl and she had several pieces of food left.
I came back downstairs and she said she had spilled her milk and she was done eating..... I cleaned up the milk and stared at her empty bowl... There was no way she finished what was left in the time I was gone. I looked in the trash and there was her food.
She had dumped her food and lied about being done. I was so mad I sent her straight to bed.
If she is already lying to me at 6, what is she going to be like when shes 15.... I'm in trouble. How do you teach a kid not to lie? I'm just glad she didn't get away with it.
