How would you clean puke out of a rug?

O-The joys of being a parent...
This morning my "Little Drama Queen" was complaining because she said she was "starving".. (Well that's what happens when she doesn't want to finish her dinner the night before) It took her longer than usual to get herself dressed and downstairs. I gave her one of her favorite breakfasts to eat (Dinosaur Oatmeal) thinking it would hurry her up. NO, she still sat there nibbling on her food.
After only a few bites she insisted she wasn't hungry anymore. I asked her if she felt sick and wanted to stay home, but she wanted to go to school...
She went to school and not even 30 minutes after school started the nurse called me to come pick her up, she felt sick and wanted to come home...
I got Princess home and she was in her bedroom when she puked, all over herself and the rug in her bedroom...

For once I was thankful we do not have carpet. I would much rather try to clean a rug and have the option of throwing it away than be suck with stinky stained carpet...

I have to admit, as much of a Drama Queen Princess is about the most ridiculous things, puking, really doesn't phase her much... She didn't cry or freak out, she just said "eww/ick". I stood her in the bath tub clothes and all while I took care of the rug. She stood there for a bit then asked if she could take her clothes off, I of course said "sure if you want too", one of her socks was covered, she had puked in her hands...
She was worried that she might get sick again, but other than that shes fine. That seems to be how her body works, one good puke and she's all better. I have had her carry around a large plastic bowl with her all day just in case...

I folded the rug up and took it to the garage while I bathed my poor daughter...
I wasn't really sure how to clean it, its too big to go in the washing machine. I at least wanted to try to clean it, if it doesn't work, we throw it away. So I laid it out in the drive way and sprayed it off with the hose. Then scrubbed the soiled areas with dish soap (dont know why I grabbed dish soap, detergent probably would have been better) and rinsed it off. Its now hanging on the fence in our front yard to dry (yes, that's a little Christmas Tree and a reindeer in my yard!)...
I think the rug will survive, hopefully because its really cute and Princess loves it!

THIS MORNING SUCKED!!!
