Yesterday, we were having a nice calm lunch when all of a sudden there was a VERY LOUD noise. For no reason whatsoever all the smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors went off all together at the same time (that is by far, the loudest most high-pitch noise I have ever heard)... There are seven total around my house. I not only had to take the batteries out of them but also pull them all down from the ceiling in order to make them stop the incessant beeping. Of course to take them down I had to unfortunately be within reach of them. It took forever for my ears to stop ringing. I understand the need for having that many, but cant there be one off switch to reset all of them? That would make it too easy and less painful. - Writing this post just made me think of something, and sure enough I'm right! I just looked and there is a breaker switch in my garage for the alarms. The question is, would flipping that switch make them stop beeping or would I still have to take all the batteries out? Well, if flipping the breaker at least stopped the loud constant beeping that would help.
One of them is still beeping periodically despite no battery and no electrical connection... That one is now in my garage so I dont have to listen to it. - I totally felt like Phoebe on Friends, did you ever see that episode?
One of my neighbors has had problems with hers going off for no reason, a short in the wiring or something. Luckily since I live on base all I have to do it call maintenance and they will come check it out and re-install them for me. I only hope they dont go of again. At least it didn't happen in the middle of the night, or nap time. That would have been a VERY rude awakening.
