Aloha Friday #12 Books

Aloha Friday
What's Aloha Friday? Visit An Island Life to find out.

Question of the day:
What books have you read lately?

A: Not long ago I finished the Twilight Saga for the 2nd time (I'm a big fan). I am currently reading "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks, I'm a little over half way through and I love it. I will definitely see the movie after I finish it.

Princess is Starting Neurofeedback

Almost a year ago I wrote a post mentioning my suspicions that Princess had Tourette Syndrome. I realize now, I never posted anything about it after that... Back in June she was diagnosed with ADHD and Tourette Syndrome. Princess is a very smart little girl (to smart for her own good) but she has discipline problems in school because she cant seem to quit talking and focus. She gets all her work done, usually with flying colors, but she is disruptive to the other kids. At home, she is very defiant, likes to argue and is always busy.
Because she has both ADHD and TS, even if I wanted to try medication to help her focus, I cant, because the medication can make her Ticks worse.
So far her ticks have been facial or vocal ticks. I mentioned in my post about Tourettes that she was clearing her throat. That lasted for quite a while but she has since sopped that and now has different ticks. She has never had any that completely disrupt here normal functioning, nor does she really acknowledge that shes doing them.
The Dr. that diagnosed her told me that Neurofeedback, also called EEG Biofeedback may help her learn to focus. I met with someone today and Princess has her first session on Wednesday! I'm exited, I feel like there's finally a light in my tunnel. Its a long tunnel because Neurofeedback is training your brain to function better, and it takes time. But that's OK, at least I finally have something to hope for that might make a difference. The Dr. also said it could help with Princess' bed wetting!

Has anyone else had any experience or know anything about Neurofeedback? Tourettes? Does your kid have ADHD?

Wordless Wednesday - Big Black Carpenter Bee

I did not take this picture, I am not that brave, I found it online. But I had to warn everyone who wants to visit or move to Hawaii that there are scary bees here... If your planning a trip you might want to reconsider. There big and scary and they like to dive-bomb people standing around minding there own business. There used to be two that would chase all the kids and parents outside my daughters class every morning. The teachers discovered it was attracted to the table right by the door (because they burrow holes in the wood) and had the table removed which made the bees go elsewhere. I have heard they don't sting you but they sure are creepy and I definitely wouldn't want it landing on me. Ick!

Last Week SUCKED

Last Sunday, the 17th, I stayed up till 1:30 AM tinkering on the computer (long story short, computer had issues, had to completely reformat the entire thing and reinstall all the programs on it, took days...UGH, better now). At around 2:30 Bobo woke up crying, I checked on him and he seemed fine and I put him back to bed. At 4:30 he was crying again and I heard a weird coughing/choking noise, I ran into his room and he had thrown up all over everything (blanket, pillow, stuffed animals, himself). I carried him to the bath tub, washed his face and stripped his clothes. Then I cleaned up the mess on his bed and took everything to the washer. ICK... Gave him a quick bath and put clean sheets back on his bed. I got him back to bed although he was not to happy about his missing stuffed animals and having a different blanket.
About 6:30 he woke up again dry-heaving. He continued to throw up anything in his stomach, or dry-heave about every hour after that until 12:30 pm when it finally stopped. It took him a few days to get his appetite back but he was better the next day after a good night sleep.
Lets just say, it was one of the worst days ever. And of course, this happens when Hubby is gone. Something always happens when hes gone. Nothing ever happens when hes home. Its always when hes gone and I could use the support....

By the way, the contentents of stuff that MUST be on his bed when he goes to sleep includes:
Gogie (favorite Blue Doggy)
Blankey Bear (small blue blanket with bear head in the middle of it)
3 Beanie Kitties
Toy Cell Phone
Small Buzz Lightyear figurine (newly added)
His Pillow (regular size)
His crochet blanket
Sippy Cup

Luckily Princess did not get sick too. She was fine. Wish I could say the same for myself. By the end of Monday, I was COMPLETELY EXHAUSTED. It took every ounce of strength I had to force myself to eat something and get the kids to bed. I went to bed right after them. Tuesday and Wednesday I still felt tired and drained, despite getting plenty of sleep. My stomach felt a little weird and sometimes nauseous but luckily that was all. Thursday I finally started feeling better.
I found out after the fact that one of my neighbors kids had the same kind of stomach bug the week before and we had all been hanging out together Saturday night.

FINNALLLYYY... Mrs. Marine... Has Come Back... to the Blogosphere

(Anyone know who I stole the line in the title from, substituting the word Blogosphere of course?)
I'm Back!! I'm Well! I finally resolved my comment form problems. I removed Intense Debate from my blog template and have reverted back to the good old blogger comment form. No, its not as flashy, but it works and doesn't cause issues.... Intense Debate did not play well with Blogger. Luckily I did not loose any comments but I did have to manually put them all back on my blog though...

ANYWAY!! Here I am!! Did you miss me? Stay tuned more posts to come and I will definitely be participating in this weeks Wordless Wednesday, so make sure to stop by then!

Goodbye Lua, Sweet Kitty

Just over a week ago on January 2nd, our beautiful kitty Lua died. Long story short, she got really sick and stopped eating, and the vet couldn't save her. She was only 4 years old, we adopted her on Aug. 31st.
We all loved her, she was a wonderful addition to our family. Lua you will be missed dearly.

I know you all probably think I had abandoned this blog, but I haven't. The holidays had be busy and Hubby was on leave, Princess was out of school, and I had a little "bloggers block". The new year has also got me down. Hubby is off training right now and wont be back till the first week of February. Then he deploys for 7 months in March.... I dont have a lot to look forward to over the next few months.
I promise I will be back soon. I have a problem with my comment forms that I need to fix before I start posting again like crazy. Hang in there and dont forget me and Ill be posting again soon.
