Hawaii !!!!

Yes, that's right, I get to live in Hawaii for the next 3 years!!! We have never been there. I finally get to go someplace cool! Someplace people go to Vacation, to Honeymoon!!! Can you tell I'm exited. I have known for a while that Hawaii was a possibility (among 2 other locations) but I didn't want to get my hopes up until I had it in writing, and now we do!

So now the fun part, selling our house.... I apologize in advance if I am not around much over the next week and a half. I have been really bad lately about commenting back and visiting other blogs and I'm sorry for that. Unfortunately that task will have to stay on the back burner until we get our house ready. Were having a painting party next weekend and have to have the house ready to paint and depersonalized to put on the market... Ick. It's not going to be fun, but it has to be done. I only hope we get lucky and it sells quickly. Regardles we will be here until the beginning of July. Then we will go spend 3 weeks with our family before we head off to Hawaii and leave the main land. Hubby has to report in the beginning of August!

We Reenlisted

Finally I got to be there for something. Hubby was deployed when he Reenlisted the first time. I have never been able to be there when he has picked up rank, for various reasons. So I was exited that I finally got the opportunity to be there yesterday for the Reenlistment ceremony. And because I was there I was included and awarded a certificate! I feel quite special, and it was nice to be acknowledge. (Click on the image to enlarge it if you would like to read it.)

Hubby "Official Bad A$$"

At least that's how he likes to refer to himself these days.
Last Friday he graduated from a 4 week long course to become a Black Belt Marine Corp Martial Arts Instructor. He now has a secondary MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) as an Instructor, meaning he can train other Marines to get there MC Martial Arts Belts.
The training itself was pretty brutal, he has had numerous buses over the last 4 weeks among other aches and pains. But he graduated from the course like I knew he would and now I suppose he deserves bragging rights. There is only a small percentage of Marines who attend and complete this course to become Instructors. He even got 2 T-Shirts with this logo on it:The course was at another base over an hour away so Hubby was only able to come home on weekends and usually one day during the week. It was too long of a drive (during rush hour, not to mention the price of gas) for him to go back and forth every day.
The best thing about Hubby being an instructor is that there is the possibility of him getting a full time job training Marines which makes him non-deployable!

Sneezing for Spring...

SPRING IS HERE!! Yes, I know, the first official day of Spring was a while ago but it has not really felt like spring. The Daffodils had bloomed but it was still cold. It has been beautiful outside the last few days. The sun is out and it's nice and warm! And I have been sneezing and blowing my nose constantly... Everything outside is covered in pollen. I don't remember it ever being this bad in the 3 years (almost exact to the day) we have been here. At least there has never been this much pollen around my house. I am tired of sneezing...
At least there are pretty flowers around! These are growing in my neighbors yard! I love her yard, she has a variety of different plants and flowers growing and she works very hard to take care of it. (Sorry, there a little blurry, I tried to zoom in and it didn't turn out so well. I really need a better camera, my camera is older than Princess.)

Meet The Marines

(I finally decided to write a detailed "about me" post and add some pictures)
Visit My Blogger Profile

Me - Mrs. Marine - Mommy

I'm married to a United States Marine and we have two children. My husband has been deployed a lot, so mostly I’m a married single parent. I am called "mommy" or "honey" so much one of these days I’m going to forget my own name. I blog about daily life, funny things my kids do and anything that comes to mind. Sometimes I just feel like ranting and sometimes I need advice...
Daisypath Anniversary Years Ticker
Hubby and I had been dating 7 months when he left for Boot Camp for 3 months. The day he graduated we drove to Las Vegas and got married the next day. We had only 10 days together and then he left again to finish his training.
In July of 2002 I left Colorado, where I had spent the first 23 years of my life and moved to our first duty station in 29 Palms, CA. Where our daughter was born. Our son was born on the opposite coast, where we are currently stationed in Virginia. We will be going to our next duty station soon (the location is still undetermined). *UPDATE: Were going to Hawaii!!!
Daisypath

Hubby - Mr. Marine - Daddy
Despite the tough Marine Corp persona he is a kid at heart and a wonderful father. He made the choice to go into the Military after 9/11 and chose the Marine Corp. We have decided to make it a career and he will retire after 20 years.

Deployments so far:
Iraq (twice)
Japan
Cuba (twice
Spain

Despite the craziness of Military Life we are a close family. I never would have thought I would end up a Military Wife, nor had I ever planned on leaving CO, but look at me know. I am the first to admit that I had NO IDEA what I was getting myself into when I agreed to marry a Marine. But I love him and will follow him wherever the Corp decides to send us, kids in tow and I will continue to support him through deployments and all.

The Tiny Troops

My two beautiful children! Both May babies and oddly enough there birthdays are exactly 4 years and 2 days apart (at least its not the same exact day). She was 3 days late and he was 2 1/2 weeks early.

Princess - Daddy's Girl
Lilypie Kids birthday Ticker
A major social butterfly, she will talk your ear off if you let her (not that you can stop her). She is too smart for her own good. I can see her as a Cheerleader in High School and a Drama Queen.

Bobo - Mommy's Boy
Lilypie Kids birthday Ticker
A boy through and through and smart as a button. When caught climbing on the furniture, before I have a chance to say anything, he says, "Get Down!". Already had stitches when he was 20 months old.

The All Knowing Nose

Princess has an amazing since of smell.
She is a very picky eater and because I want to avoid the comments of "Ewww, I don't like that, do I have to eat that, I'm not hungry, etc, etc". She is not allowed to ask whats for dinner. If she does ask I tell her something ridiculous like squid, octopus, alligator, etc, etc.

So, she never knows what is for dinner until she sees it on her plate. 95% of the time, she smells it and guesses correctly before she sees what it is, usually before she even gets in the dinging room. I don't know how she does it. Either she does have a really good since of smell or she is psychic.
On the rare occasion she is wrong, her guess has similar ingredients (similar smell).

Every time she does it Hubby and I look at each other in awe, its just too funny.
I made banana bread the other day (Princess didn't know I was making it) and when Hubby got home I asked him if he could smell something good? And before he had a chance to answer Princess said "Mmmm Banana Bread!"

AllAmericanDirect.com to give away more than $8,000 in technology prizes to military families

This is awesome! I love when companies do things like this to help military families.
I would enter the contest but we already have a lap top and a web cam, we do now anyway. This last deployment was the first time we did and I can definitely say having it mad the separation easier to bear, especially for the kids.

I was sent this press release via email and decided the cause was worth posting about:

Leading online retailer announces Laptops for Flattops contest for military families to better communicate with loved ones serving overseas

INDIANAPOLIS – (April 6, 2009) – AllAmericanDirect.com, a leading e-commerce provider of consumer electronics and satellite services, today announces the company’s first essay contest which will award one laptop with an embedded Webcam (for the family) and an additional Webcam (for the soldier) to two families who have an immediate family member serving in any branch of the U.S. military overseas. Winning families will be announced bimonthly through the end of 2009.

The contest, Laptops for Flattops, invites participants to submit a 400 word essay that explains why their family deserves to win, and how a laptop can improve their lives and communication with their loved one serving overseas. Families must be able to verify their loved one’s military enlistment.

“AllAmericanDirect.com is committed to celebrating American values and ideals, and we are a proud supporter of our troops – especially those who are serving overseas, away from their loved ones,” said Mike Mountford, CEO of AllAmericanDirect.com. “Providing families with the ability to interact and communicate on a higher, more interactive level than a phone call, is just one way in which we can salute those in uniform.”

Entries for the contest can be submitted as early as 12:00 AM EDT (24:00 GMT) on Monday, April 6 via allamericandirect.com/military and must contain a valid name, e-mail address, phone number and physical mailing address. The contest closes at 11:59 PM EDT (15:59 GMT) on Friday, May 8.

Judging will be done by a panel of three judges including: Col. (Ret.) Dale A. Kissinger, partner at MilitaryAvenue.com and a colonel (retired) in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Scott Davis, an Air Force veteran of Operation Desert Storm and father of Army PFC Sean Davis, who is stationed in Vicenza, Italy and is preparing for his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, and Ms. Jenna Richards, the sister of Capt. Phillip Richards and his wife Capt. Michelle Richards who are active in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and will be deployed to Iraq for their second tour of duty in September 2009.

The judges will be looking for essays that describe how their family has been affected by one or more family members serving overseas and how a laptop and Webcam would improve communication with their loved one(s).

Winners of the first contest will be announced on Monday, May 18. Families may re-submit a new essay for each bi-monthly contest if they were not previously selected. The contest will continue every other month through December 2009.

Do your children have good manners?

Last night and tonight at dinner, Bobo burped and then said "excuse me".
He will be 2 next month and he has already figured out on his own when to say excuse me, thanks to Princess in a way. Yesterday at dinner she farted and then said "excuse me". About 5 minutes later Bobo burped and said "excuse me". It was so cute, he does not say it perfectly, but well enough that its obvious what he is trying to say, he is such a smart boy!

Two of my favorite words: Clearance Sale

I love sales! Especially on clothes!
Sears is having a HUGE Clearance Sale from now till April 18th 75-80% OFF ORIGINAL PRICES ON FALL & WINTER CLOTHING.

I was given some money for my birthday so I think I should buy some new clothes. The last time I bought new clothes for myself they were maternity clothes. So, that was over two years ago. I never buy myself clothes. The kids have to come first when it comes to getting new clothes, seeing as they grow out of them so quickly. Buying clothes for me is always an afterthought. Or, I’ll get myself a new shirt next time, maybe next payday. But when I am given money for my birthday, then I have no excuse not to buy something for myself, so I can thank the person who gave me the money and tell them what I spent it on.
I love shopping online, it’s so much easier. No dragging the kids along, no other people, and it’s easier to find the size and color you want!

I found a cute Byline Shirred Top that would be great to wear on a night out with Hubby, and its only $5.99 (regular price $30).

Also I found a simple stripe Henley shirt that’s perfect casual wear. It’s also only $5.99 each (regular price $26) and it comes in 5 different colors. I think I’ll get one of each!

Yeah, I love buying new clothes!

Thanks for stopping by and wishing me a
Happy-Birthday-Comments

Check out some of my favorite music:

I really enjoyed reading the comments from this game during the UBP, so I decided to do it again.

Comment game (Birthday edition): BLOG MY BLOG

I will ask a question. The first person that comments, please answer my question. Once you’re done, include a question for the next visitor to answer. If possible, try to think of a Birthday related question, if you can't think of one its OK. You can also do fill in the blank sentence. This is a family blog, so please keep it clean.
Then the next commenter will answer the question from the previous comment and then think up something for the next person (if someone forgets to leave a question answer mine).

Q. What was your best/most memorable birthday present ever?

I got my belly button pierced on my 18th birthday.

The Celebration Begins!

Hubby and I are having a night on the town tonight for my birthday! We hired a baby sitter and we are meeting a bunch of friends at a dance club. Drinks, dancing and tons of fun!! I'm exited! I need a night out where I get to be just me, not mommy!
Hubby is going all out! It's going to be a big group of people so he has reserved 2 VIP tables at the club for my party. They know its my 30th birthday, so there will also be decorations, a cake, champagne and of course the DJ will announce several times throughout the night that its my birthday. So, I will be thoroughly embarrassed, but, your supposed to get embarrassed on your birthday, right? Besides it also makes me the center of attention, which is kinda fun and that never happens. Once I became a mother my children became the center of attention.
So, at 1:25 AM I will officially be 30 years old..... I only have a matter of hours left in my 20's.....
Silly Question: I was born in Colorado, do I have to go by that time zone for the actual time of my birth, or can I just go by the time zone I am in? Which is 2 hours ahead of CO.

April 5th 1979

I'm going to be 30... It is more the sound of the word "30" that just sounds weird in my head. I am entering a new age bracket. Its not that I feel old, or I think in any way that 30 makes me old. 30 is not old, 80 is old. The number just sounds weird. I have not had a monumental birthday in a while. I have decided I am going to do some kind of comment game for my birthday post. I will have my own little Blog Birthday Party! So remember to stop by on Sunday!

I Googled my birthday and look what I found:
There was a baseball game on the day I was born - Toronto Blue Jays vs Kansas City Royals, April 5, 1979

Another fun fact I found that happened on April 5th:
1614 - In Virginia, Native American Pocahontas marries English colonist John Rolfe.

Creepy...

A helicopter few over my house just now, I don't know what kind of helicopter, but I live near an Air Force Base. And the one of the bulbs in the chandelier above me that has been burned out for a few weeks lit back up... It suddenly got brighter in the room just after the helicopter past by. There are 6 bulbs, one was burned out, now its lit.... Weird.
