Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween

I love Halloween, its one of my favorite holidays! I love decorating, carving pumpkins, and I get to relive the child side of it through my kids. It's fun! I hope you have a great Halloween!

By the way, my daughter does not get to dress up for school. She didn't get to last year either. Is that happening everywhere? Its really disappointing. I remember having so much fun in Elementary school dressing up for Halloween. I am curious if other school districts are following suite? Are High School students allowed to dress up?

Princess's Pumpkin, it was too small to carve so we drew a face on it instead.

My Pumpkin.... LOL

I wanted to carve the pumpkin without having to clean it out. Do you like sea-food? LOL.
Its a big pumpkin.

My Halloween Socks! I love funny socks, especially toe-socks!

What better Halloween decorations than the yummy kind!

Have fun Trick-Or-Treating! Were going to the Mall with our friends, its easier with little kids, and its warmer. Not to mention, safer.

Back to the routine again...

Monday Princess went back to school from the 3 week break. My Mother-In-Law left yesterday, she was here for a week. So it is just me and Little Man around the house today, I think he misses his sissy a little bit.
Little Man took to his Grandma very well. Princess did not want to share Grandma. Little Man figured out that when Princess left the room he could get her attention. So every time Princess would leave the room he would run over to Grandma to sneak in a hug and play time. I also would put Princess in bed before Little Man so that Grandma could spend some time with Little Man uninterrupted by the jealous Sissy.
We had not seen Grandma since our trip "home" back in April.
The other grandma, my mother, whom we call Oma, will be here in December for Christmas!

When hubby is deployed its always nice to have family come to visit, or go visit them. It kinda breaks up the time, it gives me something to look forward to during the deployment, besides the end of deployment which is much further away.

My Mother-In-Law Has come to visit.....

I know what your thinking, but I don't have the stereotypical relationship with my mother-in-law. We have a very good relationship. And, my daughter is "Grandma, Grandma, Grandma, play this, lets do that, lets do this, etc, etc.....
So, my daughter is entertained by Grandma and I get a little bit of a break. I actually ran an errand yesterday all by myself, and, I took hubby's car which is a little 4 door thing. I wasn't driving a mini-van for a change. I felt like I was sitting on the ground. But it was nice to go somewhere by myself. I don't get to do that very often.
Its nice to have another adult around in the evenings to talk to.

Quoting My Daughter....

I was drinking a Frappuccino and Princess (she's 5 1/2) says:

P: What's that?
M: Coffee
P: O-I don't want some.
M: I wasn't offering.
P: Coffee's for grown-ups, and Dads.

Apparently there not the same thing. I guess I do have to agree with her. Sometimes Dads don't act like grown-ups, its more like I have a 3rd child...

I love Ice cream!

Who doesn't? I love Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Carmel Fudge - I don't like ice cream with nuts in it.
I have learned something funny about myself regarding ice cream. If I buy a large container of ice cream in order to eat it I have to scoop it into a bowl, and I will fill up the bowl with several large scoops. Eating too much ice cream.
But, if I buy a pint of ice cream and eat it directly from the container, I eat way less.... (I can eat it from the container because I am the only one eating it).

How do you eat ice cream? Whats your favorite Ben & Jerry's Flavor?

I miss my Husband

He has only been gone 2 months. I still have 5 more to go.
I am so tired of doing it all alone. I don't have family here to help me. I only have 1 friend and she has two kids of her own.
I just get so lonely. What I wouldn't give to at least be able to call him when I wanted to. Pick up the phone and have a meaningful conversation that lasts more than 15 minutes. Be able to call when I needed to, not wait around wondering when he will be able to call me again.
When hes gone, I don't eat well. I don't sleep well, I stay up way too late all the time, I hate sleeping alone. I miss him and need him home. Only 148 days to go.....
I could use a hug.

A time I almost died

I am the member of a BlogCatalog group called Good Parents. There was a group discussion posted today asking the question 'Tell us of a time when YOU "almost died" due to numskull kid activity...' Here is my answer:

When I was 2 1/2 my parents (still together then, divorced when I was 4) took my older sister and I camping in the mountains with friends.
My father left a cup of Colman Fuel sitting on the ground, I picked it up and drank it.
The details of the full story are obviously fuzzy to me because luckily I was too young to remember. My parents left my sister with there friends and had to rush me to the Hospital where the doctors were perplexed because they had never encountered that situation before. They pumped my stomach and I have been told I had a very high fever.
That's what I know for sure. Many years later I developed a continues cough for a while and my mother worried that it could be a long term effect from it but the cough eventually went away.
The only lasting effect is that the high fever caused pitting on my permanent teeth, which I now get to deal with. Maybe some day I can afford veneers....
Needless to say my father was kicking himself for quite a while, he could have killed me and I am sure my mother wanted to strangle him as well, although she never said it.

I Wish I Could go to New York City...

Why you ask, many reasons actually. For one I have never been there. But specifically today, tonight, because Rebecca Pidgeon is performing at The Living Room in NYC. I haven't been to any kind of concert or performance in so long. It would be a blast. Not to mention all the famous people there. Some day I will go to New York. She is also performing on Wednesday and Thursday. But alas, I am too far away, the hubby's away, I have too kids. I cant go.
What can I say, my life is boring.

Baths All Around..........

Guess what my exiting day consisted of.
My daughter got a bath, my son got a bath, the Dog got a bath, the Cat got a...........
Nap, I'm not that crazy. Then I finally got a shower. If I had a big fancy tub, I would take baths, but I don't. So I stick to showers.
My dog needed the bath the most. With all the rain lately her paws and legs were dirty. Every time she comes in from outside she tracks in little pieces of dry mud on my kitchen floor... Yeah, more for me to clean up..... I am thinking if I get one of those prickly mats to wipe your feet on that looks like fake grass, and put it right outside the door, it will help catch the dirt off her feet. Although I wonder if it will collect standing water when it rains. I suppose if it does I could poke holes in it....
Our next house will have a "mud room".

Hope your day was more exiting than mine...

It feels like Saturday.....

Bear with me because I am going to probably be a little off on my days for the next three weeks.
Princess goes to a year round school. Starting today they are on break. She is home right now, and has the next 3 weeks off from school. Its like perpetual weekends. I keep forgetting today is Friday, it feels like Saturday because she is home.
I'm not quite sure how I am going to keep her busy during break.... I have already planned to get together at least once a week with "our friends" (the Mom is my friend and the 5 year old girl and 3 year old boy are her friends) who's daughter goes to the same school. The Mom is also a SAHM like me. We are very good friends, we got to know each other last year while waiting to pick up our girls from school every day, they just happened to be in the same class.
We plan to help each other keep our sanity during the break. We get together, the kids play and keep each other entertained while we get to sit and chit chat.
