My Horrible Day....

I took my son to a Dr. appointment yesterday. It was a specialist Dr. so we had to go somewhere different that was about 27 miles from home. I had been there once before with my husband. Well, if he had been with me yesterday the day would have been soooo much better.

I got lost. Really really lost. No idea even now exactly where I was. I had my MapQuest directions and I didn't have a problem getting there. But on the way home I hadn't gotten very far when I missed my turn. No biggie, I turned around and went back. Took the turn I missed. Then somehow I was not going the right way. I pulled over onto a side street, OOPS, I was going the wrong way on a one way street... I looked at my map book (that is always in my car) and (I think) and found out where I was and where I needed to go.
That didn't work I got more lost and turned around. Pulled into a gas station to ask for directions. A nice old man told me to follow him he was going to the highway I needed. So I did. Got on the highway and drove for quite a while. Came to a split in the highway, left or right. I didn't know and guessed, WRONG. Wrong way again. I was so upset and frustrated by this point, not to mention I really had to pee.... Stopped at a McDonald's that was in a city that was south of where I stared from and I should have been moving north...... Used the bathroom and got directions AGAIN. Which finally got going in the right direction. But I still wasn't sure. I think I just ended up so far out of the way that it seemed to take forever to get back. I stopped for the third time to get directions and I had been on the right highway.
What should have took about 30 minutes to get home ended up taking over 2 hours.....

Luckily my little man was a trouper the whole way. He fell asleep a few times but was very good. And I made it back just in time to pick-up Princess from school.

So, I am sure you guessed by now I am not good with directions. I have never been that lost before. I have gotten turned around but I can usually look at my map and figure out where I need to go and then Im fine. Normally I have my MapQuest directions and I dont have a problem. I dont know what hapened yesterday.
I don't ever want to do that again. I hate highways here. They were so much simpler back home.

Musical Monday #6

I'm a little late today, I forgot it was Monday...

Q:
Do you know the words to this song (what words do you hear, even if its wrong)?
Blue - Eiffel 65

A:
Someone once told me they heard the words: "I'm Blue, I'm in need of a guy"
So now that is what I hear every time and I know that's not the words but that's whats in my head.

What's your answer? Post on your blog and sign Mr. Linky!

Internet Book Club

I enjoy reading and would love to be able to read a book and then discuss it with others. I have been thinking about creating this blog for a while and I finally did it.
Want to know more? Do you like to read? I have never been in a book club and I think an Internet book club will be fun! Check it out:
Guess what? This is my 100th post! Took me over a year but I finally got to 100.

Selfish Parents

There is a mom at my daughters school who really irritates me. She is flat out selfish. Her needs come before her child's (it should be the other way around). I don't understand why she even enrolled her child in preschool because it is not a priority to her to bring her child to school. She keeps her home for no reason at all. She has admitted to myself and another mom that she didn't bring her child to school because she didn't want to get out of bed. She is just so lax about the whole school situation. A while ago she went out of town with her child and she missed a full two weeks of school, just because.?? I just don't get some parents. It makes me mad. I'm surprised she has not gotten in trouble. Legally a child is only allowed to miss a certain number of days. I think because its preschool she will get away with it. Because the truancy laws only apply from 5 to 18 years of age. I think it should be 4 years. I think children should be required to be in some kind of preschool program weather at a daycare or a school or even home schooled. And I have heard that in some areas preschool is not offered for free and it should be.

Finally a Lazy Day...

Thanks to everyone who visited my blog during the Mommyfest Blog Party!

The party's and birthdays are finally over and we can just hang out today. Its been a busy week. I didn't mention before that last Monday night I had to go to my daughters Kindergarten registration at her new school. Wednesday for Princess's birthday I took cupcakes and goodie bags to school and that evening there was a school performance. So I went back and forth from her school 4 times that day. Friday was Little Man's birthday and I made him a cake that day which he got to eat and then had a bath, took a nap then opened his presents that evening. Saturday was the Birthday Party with friends from school. We all had fun! It was my daughters first party with friends.
Not to mention because the party was here at my house I had to get it nice and clean.
I'm tired. But it was fun (not the cleaning part).
I wish Daddy had been here...

Chit-Chatty Moms

My daughter gets out of school a 3:50. I usually get to the school to pick her up right around 3:00. Why do I get there so early?
Several reasons:
So I am at the front of the line of parents.
The earlier I am the better of a parking spot I get.
The main reason, so I can chit-chat with the other moms... It is my only adult interaction of the day. I NEED IT.
I have become friends with a few moms who also pick their kids up and we all get there early and stand around and talk. Me and one other mom also stand in the parking lot in the morning and talk.
My husband's gone so I dont have him to talk to in the evening. So the moms at school are the only adult interaction I get.

When my husband was home he kept questioning why I went to school so early. He just doesn't get it. He is at work all day with other adults who he talks to. I am at home with our son all day (and our daughter when she is out of school). Granted my daughter will talk your ear off but I need adult conversation.
I do love being a Stay at home Mom, I wouldn't change it for anything.

Who will win a $20,000 Home Makeover?

Vote for one of the 10 semi-finalist and help them win a $20,000 home makeover from Renuzit TriScents - Transform Your Home with Tanya Memme (who wouldn’t want to win).
My vote goes to The Hiatt Family, not only is the husband in the military but from all the stories they seem the most deserving. This poor family’s home is falling apart, from a leaky basement, which is where their family room and laundry room are. To a leaky roof and a chimney that needs to be rebuilt. Earthworms in the laundry room – eww, and mold everywhere. MOLD CAN BE TOXIC that’s scary.
Go visit the TriScents website and look at the semi-finalist gallery and vote for the Hiatt family. Or someone else if you think they need it more, but I think you will agree with me, wont you. You can vote once per day from now until June 7th.
In case you’re wondering I don’t know the Hiatt Family. But I checked out the site, looked at all the semi-finalists and I think they need the $20,000 more than anyone else. So they get my vote, whoever gets the most votes wins!
I use the TriScents in my daughters bathroom, which is also where the kitty box is (closed off from her of course).

I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations

Happy Mother's Day

-COPIED FROM AN EMAIL-

Just a Mom?
A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office,
was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation .
She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.

'What I mean is, ' explained the recorder,
'do you have a job or are you just a ...?'

'Of course I have a job,' snapped the woman.
'I'm a Mom.'

'We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation,
'housewife' covers it,'
Said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself
in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.
The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,
efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like,
'Official Interrogator' or 'Town Registrar.'

'What is your occupation?' she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know.
The words simply popped out.
'I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations.'

The clerk paused, ball- point pen frozen in midair and
looked up as though she had not heard right.

I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written,
in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

'Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest,
'just what you do in your field?'

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice,
I heard myself reply,
'I have a continuing program of research,
(what mother doesn't)
In the laboratory and in the field,
(normally I would have said indoors and out).
I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family)
and already have four credits (all daughters).
Of course, the job is one of the most de manding in the humanities,
(any mother care to disagree?)
and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like it).
But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers
and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money.'

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she
completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.

As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,
I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,
(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more
distinguished and indispensable to mankind than 'just another Mom.'

Motherhood!
What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.

Does this make grandmothers
'Senior Research associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations'
And great grandmothers
'Executive Senior Research Associates?'
I think so!!!
I also think it makes Aunts
'Associate Research Assistants.'
