$45 Lamp Shade for the Cone Head Dog

I had to take Bella to the vet today. See her front right leg? The vet think she got bit by a bug and had a sever reaction to it. She has been chewing and licking her leg like crazy and ate the fur off of her leg and made it raw and icky. So, now she gets to wear a lamp shade and take steroids for the next several days. A $45 lamp shade, I told hubby at that price, were keeping it and putting it on our lamp. (Just kidding of course and I am sure you know its not an actual lamp shade but it sure looks like one. The lady at the vet even made the joke "We have a lamp in the back that is now missing a shade.")

Its funny, she was outside earlier today after the vet visit and she was barking with the dogs that live two yards over. I laughed to myself imagining them saying to her, "Hey dog, what the Bark is that around your head? What did the human do to you, are you being punished? WHAT DID YOU DO WRONG" (Still laughing to myself now.)

Yea, I know, I have lost my mind. But at least I got a good laugh, I needed one after spending a total of $215 at the vet, OUCH. My poor doggy is so pathetic. But I cant help but laugh at her, she looks really funny with the cone on her head and she keeps running it into things. But I keep telling her, "you did it to yourself". If she had not tried to eat her own leg. Ugh.

So I have to take her back to the vet on Friday so they can decide if her leg is getting better then they will decide how much longer she has to wear the lamp shade, that cost $45. I cant get over that. I could have made one myself for much less. Its plastic, I really am keeping it though (not as a lamp shade) but just in case we ever need it for her again. Hopefully we don't, but you never know and I would rather not have to ever buy another one. The steroids cost less. Pets, they can be expensive, but we still love them, and need them.

  1. Oh, I'm sorry for your pup. My first reaction is to giggle, of course, because that is the cutest picture ever but I hate that she's in pain. Vet's are so horribly expensive but the pups are family so we gotta do what we gotta do. I added your button to my site, I love this place!

  2. I love dogs so much. I can't imagine my life without them...but sometimes those vet bills are outrageous! My cousin just found out that her little dog has diabetes of all things. Needs shots at the tune of $75 a shot, twice a month. But how do you NOT do it? Arghhh. Hope things are well for you this holiday season and all our troops are home soon!
