Hubby got me sick....

I have been feeling icky all week. Hence my absence. I have post in my head I have been wanting to write buy I just haven't had the energy to do so.
Princess started school and I got my BumGenius cloth diapers. I am also going to attempt to potty train my cat. Ha ha, I know I sound crazy. I will post about it all soon.
Right now my couch is calling my name.... But first I need a tissue and a cough drop... I hate being sick. And of course this cold only lasted 2 days with hubby but they like to stick around with me. Its so unfair.

I'm converting to Cloth Diapers

I know, some of you are thinking I'm crazy and maybe those of you who have used them are cheering me on.
This all started on Tuesday I came across a post on Posh Mama about cloth diapers. I was intrigued! I did more and more searching on ALL the different types of cloth diapers out there and read lots of forms and reviews. I have finally decided to try the BumGenius 3.0 One Size Cloth Diaper. I order two for now to try them out but I am already convinced that I will love them and I will be ordering more and converting to cloth diapers and wipes.
One of the BG diapers is $17.95 which is a lot. But, I did the guesstimated math, we could easily spend $1800 if not more, on disposable diapers and wipes for the rest of my sons diapering life. Or I could spend about $300 on reusable cloth diapers and wipes.
Hmm, I think I choose the cheaper route. Yes, I will have to wash them, but that's easy. There are very detailed washing instructions on the BumGenius web site.

NOT TO MENTION, its SO much better for the environment. I am not throwing them away where they will sit in a land fill for the next 250-500 years......

O-yea, and I also stumbled across Baby Cheapskate, there having a Giveaway: 12 bumGenius 3.0 Diapers (a $200 value). I of course entered the contest!

I was so lost.......

My Internet was down most of yesterday and I have Vonage which means my home phone was not working either. Luckily I have a cell phone and Vonage is set to forward my calls to my cell if its not working.
But no INTERNET, I was lost, I couldn't check my email, I couldn't blog, I couldn't surf the net.... AAAAHHHHHHHHHH what was I to do.

My daughters school orientation was yesterday afternoon so I was busy with that anyway and thank goodness when I got back home it was working again.

Modern technology, what would we all do without it?

How do you eat tuna fish?

Its funny, everyone has something different they like to put in a tuna fish sandwich.
I learned a new ingredient recently that seems weird to me, apple slices....
Growing up the way my mom always made it was with:
mayo, relish and hard boiled eggs (chopped into small pieces).
My husband had never heard of putting eggs in it until me, he likes lots of miracle whip (not mayo - either works for me). A friend of mine put tomato in hers. I tried that and its good but I still prefer the way my mom made it. Also its best when the bread is toasted.

You know your an obsessed blogger when:

You take a picture of a bowl of Bing Cherries to post on your blog. I don't know why, I just decided to take the picture just so I could post it. Who doesn't love Cherries?

I went to the store yesterday and they had Bing Cherries - YUM. So I bought some. There Hubby's favorite! Neither of us have had any in years, I don't recall buying any last summer. Princess likes them too. Its a pain in rear having to cut the seeds out so she can eat them though.

Force Bloom Tulips

I received tulips a while ago from Hubby and after they wilted I decided to keep the bulbs to try and force them to re-bloom inside.
Has anyone ever tried this? I did some research on the net and read up on how its done. One mistake I already made. I was supposed to put the bulbs in a paper bag. Oops. I put them in a plastic Ziploc bag. Which held in the moisture, I hope that's not a bad thing. I have had them in my refrigerator for ever - more than the required time of 12-16 weeks.
I potted them a week ago and have been keeping them in the corner in my bedroom. Its dark and its the coolest place in the house (we don't have a basement).
I am going to keep the pot in my bedroom until next month and them move it to my living room window that gets indirect sunlight for 2 weeks. Then move it for the last time to my kitchen window that gets direct sunlight and is the warmest room in the house.
I really hope they grow and bloom. I love tulips and daises.

The Question I have been waiting for

My daughter is 5 and my son is 1.
Recently I started giving them baths together. So much easier, it saves time and water and they have fun together.
On there first bath together my daughter finally asked the question I have been waiting to hear (it took her over a year).
"Mommy, why does my brother have that (pointing) sticking out and I don't?"

You all know "what" she is referring too. Well, I told her its because he is a boy and I use the anatomically correct names for the parts.
She then asked:
"Does George (friends little brother - I changed the name) have one"
"But Daddy doesn't"
"Yes he does, daddy is a boy too"
"Oh OK"

That was it. It has not been brought up again. I just hope she is not one of those kids that feels the need to announce her and her brothers body parts in public....

Bella our new German Shepard

It has been raining quite often lately and the other night it was thundering as well. I learned that Bella is afraid of thunder, she did not like it at all. It makes me laugh. She is a German Shepard, she is big. I never knew a big dog to be afraid of thunder. Bella usually follows me around the house, she wants to know where I am at all times. Well, when it was thundering, she was on my heels. I almost fell over her several times. Silly dog.
Bella has been a wonderful addition to our family. My kids love her. Fuzzy the cat is tolerating her. Bella tries to play with Fuzzy but Fuzzy just runs away. She is a fat lazy cat. Playing is beneath her. LOL.

By the way, we adopted Bella from a German Shepard rescue. She is 6 years old and was a owner surrender; the previous owner decided they didn't want a dog anymore. Lucky for us, now she is ours.

Bella looks like she is smiling.

Over analyzing Cartoons, again.

I did a post about this back in March and it got such a great responce I had to do it again. Here is the previous post if you missed it: Parents, Do You Ever Overanalyze Cartoons?

Have you seen Higglytown Heroes on playhouse Disney?
The storyline is wonderful; it’s all about the heroes all around us every day, from a Doctor to an electrician, or a mail carrier. It’s great.

What bugs me is the actual characters in the show, the "people". First off they have no legs. Or fingers which isn’t that big a deal. But for the most part their arms are not visible unless they are using them. Otherwise their arms just mold into their body and disappear.... Their hands are always at the same position on their body when not in use. Do you know what I mean?
It's a little weird if you pay attention to it when watching the show.

Secondly, they are able to pull objects out from inside their body. That’s just not right. The body opens up at the waist and they pull out an object. I have seen one of the parents pull out a vacuum. Hello!? That’s a little weird.

Also, there is a talking squirrel..... Who is usually a babysitter. They can go to the park as long as Fran (the squirrel) is with them. There not old enough to go to the park without an adult.
I personally would not trust my kids with a squirrel. LOL.
I know, I'm a little crazy. I got to entertain myself somehow. I like Higglytown Heroes.

Whats new on the Homefront

Daddy has been "Home" from deployment for almost a month now. Notice the quotes, well he's not deployed anymore but he has not actually been home much. He has been doing training the last two weeks so he is gone all week long and home Friday night through Sunday night. In what little time he is home he has been bombarded with homework and finals. Along with trying to squeeze in a moment with our demanding daughter. He has two more weeks of training.
Luckily his classes are now over so this weekend should be better. Not to mention he has Friday and Monday off for Independence Day.

Anyway. Princess starts school again in 25 days, she has a countdown. She's going to a year round school. I bought all her school clothes the other day. Uniforms, quite interesting, I wonder what she will say when she goes to school and everyone is dressed the same. They wont be exactly the same. The uniforms are pretty basic, not like a private school uniform. Bottoms are khaki or navy and basic solid color polo shirt. They can also wear plaid skirts but I cant seem to find one in her size for under $30. That's way too much for a skirt that she will grow out of in a year.
Little man is "cruising" along all the furniture, I'm still waiting for that first step, he is getting there.
I'm gonna go stir crazy in the house. It's weird to go from leaving every day taking Princess to school, to hardly going anywhere but the backyard. Next summer should be better because Little Man will be older and we can do more activities.
