Craft of the Week - Homemade Playdough

Playdough Recipe

You will need:
1 c Flour
1/2 c Salt
1 c Water
2 tsp. Cream of Tartar
1 tsp. Salad Oil
Food Coloring

Mix together all ingredients and cook for 3 minutes over low heat. Stir well. Add food coloring. Store in a plastic container. Kids love it and it is easier to clean up.

  1. Yay playdough! It's somewhat comforting to see all the ingredients and know that it actually is edible. Makes one of those habits of childhood seem less damaging.

  3. I saw some playdough at a craft fair during Christmas that smelled like fruit. I should have bought some, because that playdough smell will be in my house for YEARS to come!!

  4. I remember when my family and I made play-dough back when I was a kid... brings back lots of memories! I look forward to making play-dough with my daughter too but that'll be at least 3 1/2 years from now... due to the fact she won't be born till May!

  5. I think if you put gelatin powder into the playdough mix it gives it color and smell. Koolaid mix might work as well.
